What is Construction Phase As-built Scanning?

Construction Phase As-built Scanning (CPAS) is an exciting new process TDS has developed for our AEC clients
which utilizes the latest in 3D scanning (HDS) technology to record three-dimensional point cloud data environments during each phase of construction and/or at the time of rough inspections in order to document and locate MEP / structural components installed within a new building or facility. Thus, providing 3D as-built deliverables with an accurate, real-time and to-scale record depiction of all currently exposed MEP components as well as architectural / structural / construction details that will eventually be inaccessible and/or concealed upon completion of construction.

This process / deliverable is found to be particularly valuable to our Architectural, Engineering & Construction clients as they can include these phase based as-built records within the scope services they provide. These project specific and unique end-deliverables provide their clients with a viable means of maintaining, servicing, viewing, referencing and troubleshooting these internal MEP components and building infrastructures that would otherwise have been permanently concealed and/or difficult to access.

Plus, through our on-going relationship with FARO Technologies and other consultants; this 3D point cloud data can now be used to generate BIM / Revit models and as-built conditions within these new AEC software platforms being used by many firms. BIM (Building Information Modeling) is the future of the AEC industry and TDS is in the forefront of bringing this technology to our clients. Free software is also included that allows for proper viewing, scaling, referencing and even importing into CAD programs for troubleshooting, future clash studies, 3D modeling, planning, harvesting of information, printing, archiving and much more.
